In the last 2 weeks 4 cameras have been stolen by a thief. 2 last week and 2 this week right around my camp. I've been at this awhile now with really no problems other than the bears knocking the odd one over but this is disturbing. The person of interest came up a trail from a neighboring property. Actions are in motion to retrieve my cameras and deal with this problem for the safety and security of my family, my friends and myself. No mercy on thieves...... |

What appears to be a healthy bobcat is in the area and 2 cams picked it up in the last 3 days. Very exiting to see even if it's so brief.....it just keeps me working harder. 12 cameras now running including 2 with audio. It was one of these that got the bobcat and another was tipped over by a large black bear and can hear him breathing. I got 9 bear shots(one really big one....eeesh) and 5 coyote shots all in the last 3 days. Last week was almost all deer and a bit of a lull before that. Strange how this all works but slowly but surely the frequencies are improving and my angles getting better. The cam that got the bobcat was one of 4 on that area and only that one activated at the right time.....frustrating and shows how hard it really is to get decent shots with this technology. I'm a year in and a whole lot of batteries later.....slowly progressing. And I'm still alive and loving it................later. |

The last month and a half have been a bit difficult with my attempt to try some new locations on the mountain. There's still a lot of activity but the shots haven't been that good. The bears have been gorging on blue berries down in the rural fields while the blackberries are still ripening. One young bear was seen on cam in my camp and actually went under one of my hammocks in the daytime. Not good I know. I suppose they want to check our home out just as I do theirs. Just so long as we have different schedules and don't cross paths....I'd rather not. In other news....no sign of the baby deers however I've seen a buck twice and many does. A cat appears to be present right now with fresh tracks last week, a few tail shots and a really dark night shot of the full body near my camp but still not definitive. I'm up to 11 cams now and more coming with audio so again the odds increase. I recently heard of a biologist using 63 cams like mine to complete a study on an area so I don't feel so bad with 11.....so far. The maintenance, battery consumption and retrieval takes a lot of time and I'm already full tilt with our family and businesses. I'll try to upload more vids soon.... |
