Newsflash

Cougar den pics on page one of the gallery.  This is probably the home of the female cougar and has an additional tunnel beneath tha that would be perfect for cubs.  Notice in the 2nd picture the fresh ferns which are replaced every few months.

Deer Missing Leg
Written by kc

Seven times now in two months I've filmed a Deer who is missing a substantial portion of her right front leg.  I doubt she was born like this and think she may have fallen victem to a leg hold trap.  Either that or it was shot off or she fell through a rock crevice snapping it off, all of which are not pleasant injuries  to endure to say the least.  I've observed her and her fawn over the past couple months and her condition does not appear to have changed very much. She amazingly swftly when she needs to but I think she is losing weight.  I came upon them on foot by accident and could not detect any difference between her and the fawn as they bounced off gracefully.  The fawn is growing fast and could survive without her milk now so let's hope if the mother falls prey to the predators, the baby will get away.  On page 3 of the gallery I've posted two clips which if the thought of a deer walking on 3 hooves and a stump disturbs you.....Dont't bother watching it.  I don't create what is filmed,  I only publish it.

Ever get the feeling you're being watched while in the wilderness?  Well this is why I've set up these cams and now I know who's been watching us.  So who sees who?  We watch them by cam and they watch us by sight.  Hmmmm........

Welcome to Cave Mountain.

Welcome to Cave Mountain, a place of beauty in the rain forest of BC.  Within this site you'll find images, movies and stories about the mountain and  it's inhabitants.  Using mobile digital trail cameras I've been successful in capturing the animals on film in without baiting or being there to spook them.  The cams are checked a couple of times a week and show nature at it's best in true form.  I will continue to share what I get and hope you enjoy how real it is(and hopefully I don't get eaten in the process).
