Newsflash

Cougar captured by an upper cam but it's not much more than a slight glimpse.  You may have to brighten your monitor settings to see easier.  Focus on it's shape, stride and foot & when compared to other images  it is definitive but very difficult to clarify.

After our second snowfall  and pounding rains winter is setting in.  The weather and daylight time limits my visits to the mountain and animal activity seems minimal at this time of year.  The bears have seemed to settle in as I've not seen any signs for awhile now.  The female coyote is wounded and limping and has for 2 months now.  Last year about the same time I got images of a deer also limping and appeared to be missing her hoof and bone above. 8 times I got her on film and saw the progression of her condition and then she vanished as a meal I suppose.  My hunch of leghold traps somewhere in the area appears to be true and is disturbing.   I hope the coyote recovers which  seems odd to say cause they're not the animal we like to like but it's kind of interesting getting them on film more and more.  After losing 4 cameras to a scum thief, 4 cameras down for warranty, 4 brought in to dry out,  I'm down to 2 cams running right now.  Until I deal with the thief my cameras will be so far removed and difficult to retrieve for me and him.   Don't expect much for a few months now as the southcoast winter approaches.  Better equipment is in the works.......
